Steps to Work provides an incredible opportunity for young people in Liverpool with learning difficulties or other barriers to employment to develop and achieve their goals, and an incredible opportunity for you.

Each of our trainees will receive two days in a work placement either at the Strawberry Field site, other Salvation Army centres, or out in businesses in the wider Liverpool and Merseyside areas. Through these work placements, and mentoring from experts, each trainee will be more equipped to go out into the world of work.

The Steps to Work team utilises a holistic person centred approach to our work with the trainees. Additionally we provide support to the employers through the placement journey to ensure that providing a placement to our trainees will enrich the workforce in terms of supporting someone with a learning difficulty.

By offering a work placement to trainees on the programme it will help break down the barriers faced by young people with learning difficulties so they can find meaningful work once they graduate. By partnering with us, you will provide a young person with the opportunity to gain necessary work experience and change their lives. We have already teamed up with businesses with close connections to John Lennon and the Beatles such as Cavern ClubHard Day’s Night Hotel, and The Beatles Story offering an incredible opportunity for trainees to work with organisations linked to music and Liverpool history.

“The plan to open Strawberry Field to the public for the first time - so people can see a unique exhibition about the home, how and why the song was written by John, and allow visitors to explore the grounds as John did as a child - is very exciting.”
